We Aim to Please :-)

We love what we do, and love even more when the outcomes delight our customers. Today we received a really nice bit of feedback that just has to be shared. The project was a birthday gift to be delivered under tight time-frame to the other end of the country - pressure was on! We got it there on time (Friday just gone), and here's what our customer had to say in an unsolicited email received before lunch today (Monday)...

"Well, the picture was leaning up against my desk when I arrived on Friday! I of course had to unpack it straight away and I showed it to everyone at work and ended up giving away all of your cards. So don't be surprised if a few people from down this way get in touch!
Anyway we gave it to Dad yesterday, and he was absolutely blown away with it. It went straight up on the wall (and actually onto a different wall than I had pictured, he was so rapt with it he had to put it on the main wall above their fire) and he wandered around it all afternoon admiring it :-)
Can't thank you enough for all your help in getting this done, I couldn't have got something he was so happy with without your guidance and input.
We will definitely be in touch to have something done up for our house very soon, we've just been given all our wedding photos and we'll absolutely want some done on canvas.
Until then, all my thanks to you for Dad's present!

Cheers, [Dxxxx]"

Isn't that great?

In the Frame

Already posted this to the Facebook page when it arrived, but for consistency's sake we like to have our glowing Testimonials published here, too. It was a pleasure to receive this unsolicited feedback at the end of last year:

"As Picture Framers, our clients seek every conceivable form of presentation for their art, posters, memorabilia and photographs. The one format we were not able to offer to clients with confidence, was reproductions on quality canvas.

Our Gallery was introduced to Giclee Print about 2 years ago. We quickly realised that GPL's attention to detail, quality of printing and ability to meet agreed delivery promises, would meet our clients requirements and more. All at fair prices.

We are delighted and have no hesitation in recommending Giclee Print as a source for reproductions on canvas when you need the reliability of top class equipment and service."

We've done some great photo-restoration work and montages for Gary and Wendie, and they've introduced new clients our way as well, so we're pleased as punch to have received these kinds words.

Don't be fooled!

Don't be fooled by canvas printers who have very low prices... chances are they use sub-standard materials, folks!

Naturally it is crucial to only use original, printer-manufacturer archival quality pigment-based inks, but that's not all...

Check the weight of the canvas - 450gsm is good, 350gsm - not so good, less than 250gsm is appalling.

Is the canvas white? That can be good, unless it was made white with "Optical Brightener Additives" in the inkjet receptor coating using these additives effectively eliminates any archival (long life) claims - even when using good inks and a protective coating - OBAs will cause your print to age, yellow and crack much sooner than a good quality canvas.

Is it pure cotton? This can be misleading - pure cotton is generally not as consistent in terms of fine texture, and introduces more blemishes such as seeds and knots.

The canvas we use passes all of these tests.

Sadly, there are companies out there who will use inferior materials and not even know what harm they are doing to your precious images in the long run.

It pays to check. Any giclee (digital inkjet) printing outfit that can not answer these questions appropriately may not be the best firm to trust with displaying your images to their best advantage.

Lateral Lines

Our valued client Colin Gans will once again have his stunning images on display.  This time they are in support of a CD launch by internationally renowned classical guitarist, Bruce Paine.  Colin's images have formed part of the inspiration for Bruce's CD.

The CD launch promises to be full of stimulation for the senses - with beautiful music, a slideshow, and beautiful canvas prints on display - not to mention drinks and nibbles!  :-)

Details and a large version of this flyer are available on Colin's exhibitions page.

Testimonial from Shona Moller and Bryce Moller

We are privileged and proud of the work we do for excellent artists all over New Zealand. One such artist is the internationally acclaimed Shona Moller, based in Kapiti. Shona's art gallery director husband Bryce Moller contacted us toproduce some canvas work Shona needed done to form a component of some of her pieces for an exhibition in London earlier this year. Our small contribution was actually started last year for that exhibition, and we've subsequently produced more pieces for the next show. We're always fascinated by the transformation!

Needless to say we are enormously proud of our involvement with such successful people, and even more so when we are presented with a testimonial of their satisfaction with our work that goes like this:

'The service and quality from Giclee Print has always been and continues to be exceptional. There has never been a need for us to investigate alternative suppliers as we know that we are receiving the rare combination of both the highest quality product at the best price. We have always found Giclee Print to be innovative, responsive and professional and would have no hesitation in recommending them to others.' - Bryce Moller

Bryce generously describes as innovative, but check out this photoof a chair, and tell me who's innovative, when you learn that Bryce and Shona had it upholstered using canvas that we printed for them! How cool is that?

New ad in engaged, and Bride Of The Year 2008

We recently advertised our services in a great new online publication: engaged magazine. A very appealing medium - like a glossy magazine that you flip through online - very cool - I enjoyed the flip through whilst checking it out to find our ad! Here's a link so that you can take a look yourself, it's a great resource if you happen to be or are thinking about becoming, well... engaged!

We're on page 105 of 138 - right after the story of David and Sonya Cooper - winners of the Weddings.co.nz Bride Of The Year competion 2008. This is rather apt, as we sponsored a prize as part of their package - so we're going to be making a beautiful canvas print for them from the lovely image you can see on the 2-page spread in engaged (pp 100-101). Here's the image - which is the work of instant Wedding Photography.

Citizens and [NOT] Ratepayers

It's a quirky name for an exhibition, but when you see the subjects it will all make perfect sense! Photographer Charles Lynch has put together a collection of some of our more remarkably-difficult-to capture locals. The beautifully observed and photographed images have been given the GPL treatment and the results are - we think - quite stunning. If you've an interest in NZ's natural history, then this charming exhibition will be right up your alley.

Charles won first and second places in the nature section of the Auckland Photographic Society competition for two of the images on show here, and he's won other divisions since then, so he's a talent to watch for. Check out the exhibition and see what we mean.

The Art of Surfing Exhibition 8th February - 2nd March 2008

We strongly recommend that those of you who enjoy art, or surfing (or both!) head out to Estuary Arts Centre at 124B Hibiscus Coast Highway, Orewa, Auckland and check out "The Art of Surfing - an exhibition of our coastal environment".

The exhibition has been put on by Orewa Longboard Club, just 'across the road', and features some very fine works in mediums as diverse as shell jewellery, aluminium, sculpture, oil and acrylic paints, screenprints on board, and of course our favourite - large beautiful photos on canvas.

The canvas prints that are there we know are beautiful, because we made them! We're proud to have helped to put together the portfolios of two of the exhibitors, each with unique vision and approach to the presentation of their art. Each is mentioned briefly below - we really hope you get along and check out the work of these very talented guys.

Alan Ashworth
of Inyaface Images, pictured here on opening night with his lovely wife Gillian and his stunning exhibition pieces is a long-time client. Al is the driving force behind the publication of Slide Magazine, which we are proud to provide scanning and image preparation services to. Even if you're not interested in longboard surfing this is a beautifully put together publication - grab a copy today!

Mike & John of Caught on Radar are also clients who offer a great service through their site, including superb prints, of course.

Like we say - the exhibition is well worth visit if you enjoy soaking up other people's talents and looking at beautiful things. Pick a print from one of these guys and you'll have a great addition to your home that you'll treasure for years.

Aloha!

Testimonial from Harley Betts Photography

We've done a number of prints for Harley Betts Photography over the past months and we're delighted to say that this has developed into another full-time preferred supplier relationship for us.

Below is an example of just one of the stunning New Zealand images you will find if you browse the galleries on Harley's site. This is followed by a testimonial about our work.

"Your canvas prints are superb! Once I saw how great photos looked as canvas prints, I was hooked -- I now have two canvases for my own walls, and have started offering canvases from Giclée Print Limited to all my clients as an addition to my usual range of landscape prints. Your responsiveness and professionalism are great and I'm really pleased to have you as my preferred supplier of canvas prints." - Harley Betts.

It's a delight to work with such awesome landscape pieces. All Harley's images are shot on medium format film and processed via extremely high resolution scan to produce work of sublime quality. Anything but the best possible quality canvas printing would be a disservice to these images, so we're proud to have been selected to work with Harley in this way.

Harley's images are now available as Fine Art Canvas Prints directly through his website by browsing the many galleries and placing an order!

You can read about them and even see a photograph of one of the first pieces we did for Harley last year here on Harley's Fine Art Prints page (scroll down to the Canvas Prints section).

Needless to say we're pretty stoked to be working with an artist of Harley's calibre.

Brian Moorhead Panoramic Landscape Prints of New Zealand

I've created a separate gallery of these so that they can be exhibited and linked-to on Trademe without breaching the listing terms which state that the auction can not link to a website with contact details or selling capability. Fairy nuff.

If you want to see them in their proper home on our sales site, they're to be found here alongside others at the Canvas Print site: www.canvasprint.co.nz.
